Carlos Alcaraz, the defending US Open champion, advanced to the second round when Dominik Koepfer was forced to quit due to an unlucky ankle injury.
The Spanish champion, who had the crowd spellbound with his amazing performance the year before, shown class by acknowledging Koepfer’s ailment and explaining that it was not the best strategy for winning. Alcaraz, though, praised his own performance on the court and hopes to continue it in the next rounds.

He had an ankle injury in the first game, which was unfortunate for him, Alcaraz stated after the game. “Clearly, that’s not the ideal strategy for moving on to the next round. However, I have to admit that while I was on the court, I was performing fantastically. I’m hoping to maintain the same level in the next round.

The renowned Ashe stage was described by Alcaraz as “a court that I love playing in.” “I felt fantastic from the moment I stepped onto the court [tonight]—the same excitement I had last year. The game got off to a tremendous start, and I thought I played and felt extremely well throughout it.

Alcaraz was then questioned about his “buddy” Sebastian Yatra, who was also in the audience, during the post-game interview. The interviewer invited the world’s second-ranked player to sing a few verses from a song, and Alcaraz delivered. After then, Yatra was also seen on video dancing to Alcaraz’s music.

Llyod Harris of South Africa will be Alcaraz’s next opponent, and he will provide a formidable test to the Spanish great. The tennis community will be eager to see Alcaraz’s talent and tenacity as he attempts to extend his winning run and win another championship.
