Venkatesh Prasad: “There is hunger and intensity deficiency, we live in an illusion”

Former Indian bowler Venkatesh Prasad voiced dissatisfaction with the squad’s performances after India’s T20I series defeat to the West Indies. He described the team as a “very ordinary limited overs side” that has been “living in an illusion” and is without the passion and fire in their game.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-125873″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-venkatesh-prasad-there-is-hunger-and-intensity-deficiency-we-live-in-an-illusion-102252354-11zon-750×422.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com venkatesh prasad there is hunger and intensity deficiency we live in an illusion 102252354 11zon” width=”1319″ height=”742″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-venkatesh-prasad-there-is-hunger-and-intensity-deficiency-we-live-in-an-illusion-102252354-11zon-750×422.jpg 750w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-venkatesh-prasad-there-is-hunger-and-intensity-deficiency-we-live-in-an-illusion-102252354-11zon-1024×576.jpg 1024w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-venkatesh-prasad-there-is-hunger-and-intensity-deficiency-we-live-in-an-illusion-102252354-11zon-768×432.jpg 768w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-venkatesh-prasad-there-is-hunger-and-intensity-deficiency-we-live-in-an-illusion-102252354-11zon-390×220.jpg 390w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-venkatesh-prasad-there-is-hunger-and-intensity-deficiency-we-live-in-an-illusion-102252354-11zon-150×84.jpg 150w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-venkatesh-prasad-there-is-hunger-and-intensity-deficiency-we-live-in-an-illusion-102252354-11zon.jpg 1280w” sizes=”(max-width: 1319px) 100vw, 1319px” title=”Venkatesh Prasad: "There is hunger and intensity deficiency, we live in an illusion" 12″>

At the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground on Sunday, West Indies defeated India 3-2 to win the five-match T20I series. Nicholas Pooran and Brandon King contributed much to this victory.

Venkatesh Prasad cited defeats to Bangladesh, another team with a lower ranking than India, and to the West Indies, a team that did not advance to the main stages of the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022 and did not qualify for the 50-overs World Cup this year.

For a while now, India has been a very very average limited overs team. A West Indies team that missed out on qualifying for the T20 World Cup a few months ago has humiliated them. Ban had defeated us in the ODI series as well. Hope they reflect rather than saying foolish things #IndvWI,” tweeted Venkatesh.

The former pacer said that since the club contains batsmen who cannot bowl and bowlers who cannot bat, it lacks desire and energy and has to strengthen its skill set.

India needs to develop its abilities. There is a lack of desire and energy, and the skipper often seemed to be totally lost. Batsmen cannot bowl, and bowlers cannot bat. In another tweet, he said, “It’s vital to not hunt for yes men and be blinded because someone is your favorite player, but instead look at the broader good.

In a response to a user, Venkatesh said that the squad’s current standing is the result of the captain and team management. The abuse of terminology like “process,” he said, is common in the post-game speeches.

They must answer for the disaster since they are to blame. Process and similar terms are now abused. Guys, just say it now; MS meant it. He responded to a user by saying, “There is no consistency in choosing, odd things happens too often.

India isn’t doing well, according to Venkatesh, but they’re hiding it under an act of deceit.

“West Indies didn’t only lose in 50 overs; they also missed out on the T20 World Cup in October and November of last year. It hurts to watch India do badly and have its shortcomings swept under the rug in the name of procedure. Venkatesh Prasad responded to another usage by saying, “That hunger, fire is lacking and we live in an illusion.

India chose to bat first as the game began, but things didn’t go well; they immediately lost the openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (5) and Shubman Gill (9) and the Men in Blue were reduced to 17/2. After these two little blips, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma (27 in 18 balls with three fours and two sixes) produced a 49-run partnership. It was essentially downhill for India once Tilak was fired.

Suryakumar struck 61 runs in 45 balls (four boundaries and a six), but captain Hardik Pandya (14) and Sanju Samson (13) couldn’t really help out the top-ranked T20I batter from the other end. India concluded with a score of 165/9 in their 20 overs as wickets kept dropping.

India’s momentum throughout the innings was halted by a four-wicket haul by Romario Shepherd (4/31) as he secured the vital dismissals of Samson and Pandya. Both of the openers were taken out by Akael Hosein (2/24) while Suryakumar’s key wicket was secured by Jason Holder (2/36).

WI easily lost Kyle Mayers (10) in the pursuit of 166. However, a 107-run stand between Nicholas Pooran and Brandon King (47 in 35 balls, with one four and four sixes) dramatically turned the tide of the match in India’s favor when Tilak removed Pooran. Together with Shai Hope (22* in 13 balls), King led WI to victory with two overs remaining. King scored 85* in 55 balls, including five fours and six sixes.

For India, Tilak and Arshdeep each grabbed a wicket.

The ‘Player of the Match’ honor went to Shepherd for his four-for-four. (ANI)

With a top score of 67 and a strike rate of almost 142, Pooran was named “Player of the Series” after scoring 176 runs in five games.
