Salman Butt criticizes India’s White-Ball XI Rotations for balancing quality and quantity

Throughout the white-ball leg of the series against the West Indies, the Indian team management tended to toy about with the starting XI selections.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-122191″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-salman-butt-criticizes-indias-white-ball-xi-rotations-for-balancing-quality-and-quantity-download-2023-08-10t174929.235-11zon.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com salman butt criticizes indias white ball xi rotations for balancing quality and quantity download 2023 08 10t174929.235 11zon” width=”1077″ height=”601″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-salman-butt-criticizes-indias-white-ball-xi-rotations-for-balancing-quality-and-quantity-download-2023-08-10t174929.235-11zon.jpg 301w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-salman-butt-criticizes-indias-white-ball-xi-rotations-for-balancing-quality-and-quantity-download-2023-08-10t174929.235-11zon-150×84.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1077px) 100vw, 1077px” title=”Salman Butt criticizes India's White-Ball XI Rotations for balancing quality and quantity 12″>

India’s skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, two of their top batsmen, were rested for the second and third games of the three-match series despite being available throughout the ODIs.

Despite the fact that India lost five wickets in a low-scoring chase in the first ODI, Kohli was also denied the chance to play.

The squad’s youthful players may have been developed with an eye on the important ODI World Cup later this year, but some of the decisions garnered criticism from supporters on social media.

Both the West Indies series and T20Is this year have been played without Rohit and Kohli’s participation. India had a challenging opening, losing the first two games before winning the third by seven wickets and continuing in the five-match rubber.

The administration of the squad is still under scrutiny, and Salman Butt, a former captain of Pakistan, has also attacked India’s trials in the white-ball forms.

Butt claimed that without some of the team’s more seasoned players, the quality is not the same, referencing Hardik’s statement from 2021 that India could play three different teams and win any match.

When their major players are out, the combination is not ideal. It’s not the same if Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, or any other seasoned player is absent. They claim to be able to create three separate teams. Yes, there is a talent pool and exposure, but the team cannot compete at the same level without its important players, according to the former Pakistan captain.

“Senior players carry their weight, and the opposition is affected by their experience as well.”

Given that neither Rohit nor Kohli are even close to being considered for T20Is, it seems more plausible that India is prepared for life without the star tandem in the shortest format. In the meanwhile, when India takes on Ireland in a three-match T20I series starting on August 18, Jasprit Bumrah will make his team debut for the first time since September. The team’s standout pacer will also serve as captain during the bilateral series.
