<p>Ranveer said in an Instagram post that he recognized the responsibility that came with playing the legendary part that Bachchan first originated in the 1978 film Don and that Farhan Akhtar later recast with Shah Rukh in his 2006 and 2011 film series.</p>

<p>The rights to the Chandra Barot-directed film starring Amitabh Bachchan were purchased by Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment company. Don was conceived by Salim Khan and veteran authors Javed Akhtar, who is Farhan’s father.</p>

<p>With Ranveer as the new face in the much awaited third installment, Farhan is now moving the franchise forward.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>“Gosh! This is something I’ve been wanting to accomplish for a very, very long time! I developed a passion for movies as a young kid, worshiping Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, the two G.O.A.Ts of Hindi cinema, much like the rest of us… I hope I can do you proud, Big B and SRK, my two supernovas…</p>

<p>“I am aware of the enormous responsibility that comes with belonging to the ‘Don’ dynasty. As they have done for so many characters throughout the years, I hope the public will give me a chance and show me love, Ranveer said in a touching message.</p>

<p>The 38-year-old actor described carrying on the two heroes’ legacies as “a manifestation of my childhood dream” as he basked in the success of his most recent film, “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.”</p>

<p>He accompanied the post with a series of photos from his early years in which he is seen showing off a toy pistol and some sunglasses.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>“I wanted to be like them when I grew up. I aspired to be an actor and a “Hindi film hero” because of them. It is impossible to overestimate their effect and impact on my life. They have molded me into the person and performer I am today, he said.</p>

<p>Ranveer also expressed his gratitude to the film’s Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani for “entrusting” him with the part.</p>

<p>“I hope I can maintain your confidence in me… And I guarantee you, my audience, as always… that I’ll do my very best to amuse you…Thank you for your affection in and as…’Don,’ he added.</p>

<p>Don’s third installment is anticipated to premiere in 2025.</p>
