<p>In an interview with People, Wayne Brady admitted, “I am pansexual,” but went on to define the term by calling himself “bisexual – with an open mind.” The 51-year-old, who has a daughter named Maile with his ex-wife Mandie Taketa, said that he carefully considered his orientation before choosing that he wanted to be labeled as a pansexual person. In response to the question of why he did not identify as bisexual, Wayne said, “I couldn’t say if I was bisexual, because I had to really see what that was, especially because I really have not gotten a chance to act on anything.”</p>
<p>Wayne Brady acknowledged that he was changing the definition of what it meant to be a pansexual, saying that it now includes “being able to be attracted to anybody who identifies as gay, straight, bi, transgender, or non-binary… And I believe that is the appropriate location—at least for me right now. He continued by saying that by identifying as pansexual, he could not only be attracted to any of these many sexually inclined people but also “attracted to the person that is there.”</p>
<p>In the same conversation, Wayne Brady revealed that Mandie Taketa, his ex-wife, was the one to whom he originally came out as pansexual; her only comment was, “Great.” Mandie said that she was certain that Wayne would be more happy after coming out as opposed to hiding his identity. Maile, the 20-year-old daughter of Wayne and Mandie, likewise did not respond very well to her father’s coming out as pansexual. She said, “Okay,” bursting into a gleaming grin of pride.</p>
