The World Test Championship is going to start between India and Australia from Tuesday 7th June. Meanwhile, the great Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has given his choice regarding the playing XI of the Indian team for the match to be held at The Oval.
Gavaskar has selected Shubman Gill and captain Rohit Sharma as openers. After this, number 4 has been reserved for Cheteshwar Pujara at number 3 and run-machine Virat Kohli. Moving forward, they have Ajinkya Rahane at No.5, there is some concern about No.6, but No.6 should be Bharat or Ishan Kishan. Gavaskar said that Bharat has played all these matches so far. That’s why he will be at number six. He said that Jadeja is better at number 7 and R Ashwin at 8. After this, there will be Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and probably Shardul Thakur at number 9, 10 and 11.
Talking about the pace bowling, Gavaskar said that Shardul Thakur can complete the team to support the duo of Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj. At the same time, Gavaskar has put an end to the concerns of wicket-keeping in the absence of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul. After Pant met with a road accident at the end of last year, KL Rahul replaced him in the team, but after Rahul’s injury during the IPL, Team India’s concern about the championship increased. Meanwhile, Gavaskar has selected KS Bharat for the team.
